Back on the road to buying a home

So it's been about a month since our dream of living in the country was shot down b/c the sellers agent wouldn't extend our contract. Since then I've been trying to convince hubby to let me buy my house on dream house here in town, it's huge!! Like almost 3000 sqft huge, so big it has 2 separate ac units and water heaters, there is a huge 2 car garage and TONS of storage. It needs a little TLC b/c there are some stress cracks in the ceiling around the gigantic fireplace. Put at last, hubby says no. Not only is it too much $$ a month for the payment, the $$ to heat/cool the place would leave us eating sandwiches.

SOOOO..................

We have opted for a slightly smaller home than the one I would LOVE to have (if my money tree would ever bloom) but larger than what we have now. This house is about 1300 sqft of living space and a little over 1900 sqft total (with garage and front porch included) compared to the 952 sqft living, approx 1000 sqft total that we have now. Plus we gain another bathroom!!! The home itself is appears to be in good condition, although the home inspection will show us for sure if it is not. There is also a storage room/garage detached from the house that hubby has claimed for him.........his "Man cave" as he puts it! LOL!!

It's close to mom and my older sister so the kids can all see each other. Princess is happy b/c she is going to have other kids as neighbors that she can play with. I have no doubt that it will be a pleasant change from here. Don't get me wrong, I love being right next door to my parents, the kids can go over as they please and when the boys are down, they keep JW occupied all day long. I know I was raised in the same place and I turned out fine, but I would love not to be right on the highway. I've got good kids, they stay out of the drive way, but when there isn't a drive full of cars, it seems to be a turn around spot for people missing Bradburn and with the times that we are living in I hate having to think how easy it would be for someone to drive in, grab a kid and be gone before we know it. KWIM???

Anyway, if things go right, we close on or by the 15th of August!!! Yep, 3 weeks!!! I'm SUPER excited and scared at the same time!!! Princess wants to paint her room, JW needs new plugs in his, our room seems to be fine. Most of all of the rooms in the house has the doors off in the garage out back b/c apparently the remodel didn't get finished so there is still things like painting the doors and rehanging them, putting switch plates and plug plates on, which is fine because it lets us put more of our mark on the place. The outside of the house has this lovely grass stuff planted ALL OVER!! It's not grass that is supposed to grow on the ground, it's more of a decorative grass that has these little purple flowers growing on it, it's up both sides of the front steps, and around the entire house. So if you know what it is and want some of it.......email me, call me......we can work something out! (After we close of course! )

hummm.........what else??? Oh, princess and cheerleading. Lil sis got her signed up, we meet 8/4 @7pm for uniform fittings. I only have to buy her a pair of shoes and low cut socks which will run me about $26. Not bad. I am thinking more about getting her signed up for a cheer class if it doesn't interfere with her practice times, so maybe she can learn the jumps and flips and things and feel more confident when being with the other girls that know more. We will see how that goes.

Have I mentioned that I'm back on the job search??? I think I have...some timers is getting me today so I'm not sure. (I guess I could read my old posts to see couldn't I?) Anyway, I emailed the guy back about the photography job and have done several more online applications. If you know of anyone local (as in not driving to Dallas) that is hiring, shoot me an email. Thanks!!

Well, I think that about catches it up. I'm just waiting to hear from our realtor when she talks with our lender and all of that good stuff. I need to get with hubby to tell him how much $$ the home inspection and termite inspection is going to cost and see when he wants me to schedule that. Keep your fingers crossed and us in your prayers that this was meant to be this time.

Until later!!

My Friday Night

Well, it's 7:30pm on Friday night. I'm home, JW is asleep, Princess is at VBS @ Sand Flat and the hubby is @ work. I can't complain much though, this AM was his red hat training being that yesterday was the 5th day of his work week, which made today his 6th day making this mornings shift overtime pay and part of tonight double time!! So I can't complain much. I would have LOVED for hubby to have been off today so that maybe we could have taken a trip to McKinney to visit his family and maybe a train trip to the Dallas Zoo tomorrow. And of course Bill Smiths for breakfast!! (Seriously the BEST breakfast I have EVER eaten!! Better than the old Saline Cafe & Moody's at their best!!)

Lil sis called today, she has found a $$ tree and from the sweetness of her heart signed Princess up for Pee-Wee Cheerleading!! YEAH us!! Here's to a month of Saturdays of Pee-Wee Football!! Please LORD let Tom have the same schedule he is on right now until football season is over or send me a FABULOUS sitter for JW!!

Tomorrow's plans??? I'm hoping to get away and do some school shopping for Princess. I will have to take her w/ me b/c she is at such an odd size. Sometimes 10/12 will fit, other times it must be a 14/16. WM pants really don't fit right so we have changed more to Target, Old Navy and the like. SOOOO, if anyone knows of any really GREAT sales email me!! (Sheriroach@aol.com) If you know of anyone that has out grown girls 14/16 or REALLY NICE resale shops email me too!! (Please note these need to be in Texas, preferably Tyler or Dallas area)

The Barnum & Bailey Circus is at American Airlines Center in Dallas next weekend. Princess is hoping Papa Pearland will take her and JW to it while they are up. Hubby is going to use his ability of guilt b/c Papa just finishing up a vacation trip w/sgd, gd #3, #2 and dd#1 in San Antonio. Hubby gave papa the guilt trip when he found out about it. But did get papa to agree to watch the kiddos so we can come down for Marti Gras in Feb 09 and go to the adult area and papa would take the kiddos to the parade and home with them!! So that is definitely something to look forward to!! Don't worry, I'm not about the beads, Princess seems to have the ability to get enough of those just off her cute looks!

Well, guess that's enough for tonight. Gonna go find something to keep me occupied until it's time to go pick up Princess from VBS @ 9:30pm (yes, PM!)

Monday, July 21, 2008

It's 9:30pm here, the kids are bathed and getting ready for bed. Princess is trying to find the right night gown she wants to sleep in and JW is wining b/c Princess won't play with him. JW took a late nap today (6pm-7:30pm ish) so he'll be up late w/me. (YEA!! :( not!) Tom is on 3p-11p this week. And we all know my feeling on that shift. Anyway, onto other things.

I was wanting to go back to college this semester. Well, I apparently hadn't completely got Tom on board with the idea and when I started talking about Princess & I starting to school on the same day, he was a little confused. Needless to say, there was a LONG conversation after that. We have came to the decision that I need to wait until this coming fall (Fall 09, maybe Spring 09) for me to start this endeavor. Due to childcare at night and his crazy schedule mainly.

So I am once again going back to work. What I am not sure. When I left the restaurant I was given the opportunity to come back if/when I wanted to. But it doesn't appear that lunches have picked up much and the new gm mentioned that working a few Saturdays would pretty much be mandatory going forward (not something I'm wanting to do). So I'm thinking the restaurant is NOT going to be a choice. I was thinking about Brookshires, but I'm not sure how the not being able to work nights would go. I emailed a guy about doing photography, it's not something I've ever done professionally, but I have taken lots of pictures of the kids on my own and they do provide paid training and it is just taking pictures for school year books and church directories and the like. Then there are lots of temp to hire things that sound okay, but I'll have to drive to Tyler and gas is not cheap. (And so far the mommavan isn't seeming to get the best of mileage on gas around (between 1/4 & 1/2 to go to Tyler and back on Friday) so I'm not sure how much $$ I'd REALLY need to be making to actually come out ahead. KWIM???

Other news............JW has gone #1 2x today AND!!!!! #2 2x today!!! Maybe we are finally on the road to being potty trained!!!! I have promised him a trip to the BIG Zoo once he is going potty all of the time during the sunshine time (daytime). So we will see how it goes the rest of this week. Oh and I am doing a bit of bribing with sweet tarts. Wish us luck!!

Well, I think that's about it for now!!!

Wait!!! I forgot to send Congratulations to my friends who have had or are having babies this week or this past week!! Jennifer gave birth to Kate Marie this past Tuesday 7lbs 6oz 20.5 inches. And Jayme who was induced this morning around 6:30am and has hopefully delivered her Joshua by now!! I'm anxiously awaiting an update on Jayme as her dh (John Smith)and I went to school together and have always been good friends.
Congratulations and best of luck to both. I know both of these kiddos are going to be absolutely GORGEOUS!! And rotten to boot (especially Jayme & John's!!)

Okay I'm really done now......... for now anyway!! Night!!

Nicknames

Okay, the kids nicknames............
Sarah is my mom's only granddaughter, she has 4 grandsons. She was nicknamed Scooter by mom when she was little. Tom started calling her Lilbit or Hotrod and the Hotrod named seemed to stick with him. Once she got a little older I started calling her Princess, b/c well, she's my little Princess. Josh came along and was deemed JW, immediately, then little man and lately I find myself calling him Paco Dominguez (sp???) I have NO idea why and I try to NOT call him that in public b/c we do have a lot of hispanic people in my area and don't want anyone thinking bad of me, so I try to just call him JW, or BOOGER. Booger is what I normally called him when he was itty bitty, or boog for short (even nicknames need nicknames right???) So there you have it. Hotrod/Princess and JW/Booger will now be the names I will try to refer to the kiddos as in future posts. I'm sure I will fail miserably but I will try.

Nothing much

Okay it's 12:45am, Wednesday morning, Tom is working until either 1am or 3am. Held over again like last night. He's on the 3pm-11pm shift this week, which isn't that bad since Sarah is out of school and I'm back to SAHM status. Before it was a nightmare b/c he would leave for work before Sarah came home from school and I got off of work and we would leave for school, daycare and work sometimes before he was fully awake (well, the daycare/work part he is always still sleeping during this shift when Sarah leaves for school). It's all part of life at the Salt Mine, which 20 years from now might be better.

Other updates: We ended up getting 100% of our earnest money back from the other realtor. Apparently the people who had the "other offer" in on MY Country House really wanted to move on it so atleast we aren't out anything on that now. I officially have my own ride!! We went a week ago yesterday (July 7th) to Irving in afternoon rush hour traffic to Westway Ford (I know if you've heard/seen a Westway Ford commercial you're signing the song right now, if not go check out their website (westwayford.com) and check out the last 6-7 seconds of the 3 video about the tax rebate checks (bah, bah, westway fooord) and you will have it burned into your memory!!) ........Anyway, I ended up with a 2005 Ford Windstar SEL (very important letters) she's dark grey with grey leather seats (I've never had a vehicle w/leather and I've had about 20+ cars/trucks in ummm 15 years (gosh I'm getting OLD!!))it's got sliding doors on both sides and a Rear Entertainment Package!!!! The kids have to turn on a DVD every and I mean EVERY time we get in the van!! I can run to Brookshires to get dinner and one MUST go in!! I do love my van though!! She drives really good, has a great radio and the a/c will freeze you out once she get's the inside cooled down. The only bad things so far I have found is:
Can't get the cruise control to set
The replacement keyless entry fob is going to cost me $45
A duplicate key is going to cost me $65 for 1 or about $85 for 2!! Wow!!! right??? Apparently there is a sensor in this little darling that makes is worth it's weight in gold......well maybe aluminum. Anyway, if you only have 1 key, you get to pay out the booty for a 2nd BUT!!!! if you already have 2 and just WANT a 3rd key (never had a 2nd spare key to a car before either but I will have soon) it will only cost about $20 to have it cut b/c they don't have to program it for you, I can "DO IT MYSELF" since I will have 2 other keys that apparently train the 3rd key.

WOW!!!! I wish I would have known this BEFORE signing papers and leaving the dealership on the 7th!! Someone would have been getting me a 2nd key before we agreed to this deal!! Seriously!! Live and learn right???

I have lots of pictures that I need to get on the computer so I can put some here and on my myspace just incase I have people that regularly check them. In my "dream world" I think that people that I used to work with might check up on the growth of the kiddos. But in reality I know most people are like WHO?? I know on my myspace there are people on my friends list from school, relatives, and of course my sisters!

Most of tonight I have been reading the bulletin boards on Babycenter.com, apparently the Old BBC, the bargin hunter board. Don't let the bargin hunter name fool you, sometimes there are bargins to be found other times, it's just random things. Everyone is currently concerned b/c the NEW BBC has opened and the Old BBC will be closing soon. Anyway, there was a bulletin about blogs and everyone listed theirs so I jumped on the bandwagon and put mine there to so -
HI BBC BHB MOMMIES!!!
After looking thru alot of the other blogs I have planned updates to this one.
  • I'm definately going to work on the background and jazz it up a bit.
  • I'm going to use the kids nicknames more, because that is just cute!! Sarah is lovingly known as Hotrod or Princess, or the newest Drama Momma. Joshua is normally either called JW, JR, Booger, or my Uncle Darren calls him Squirrel. I personally normally call him Paco Dominquez ........why I do not know. Back on track more on the nicknames later>>>>>
  • I'm going to do the x# of random things about me. I'm not thinking I'll do the 100 but maybe 20. We'll see how it goes.
  • I've added a thing on the left of the screen that shows who visits and where they are from, when the come to my page and when they leave. It is NOT accurate on location though b/c it shows I'm visiting from Lindale, Tx which in reality is about 30ish minutes away from me, however, it could be the location of some sort of relay thing for our cable??
  • There should also be a little sign showing where you are visiting, if not keep watching it'll be there asap!
  • Maybe a counter to show the # of peeps that check me out! Hopefully some comments will be the results of these visits.
  • Maybe a Goal of things list...

The house...

Okay, it's been a week, and 1 day since we got the horrible news. The news that I had not been wanting to get. We didn't get the house after all. I was SOOOO horribly mad!! I mean I could have screamed, but instead, I cried!! After all of the playing phone tag, pages and pages of paperwork changing the mortgage from 15 years to 30 years ended up messing everything up in the end. Apparently, to go 30 years you have to have LOTS and LOTS of payment history, like actual check stubs, not online payment proof, or a print out from a company showing payments made, apparently those are too easily altered. You actually have to have check copies of canceled checks!!

So, we withdrew our offer and let the realtor go with the pending contract that was submitted after ours. We have our fingers crossed that if it was truely meant to be ours then maybe something will cause this other contract to fall thru and give us another chance, maybe at a lesser price.

The good news, we might beable to get 1/2 our earnest money back!

So right now it's just a waiting game both for the company doing the financing company to decide we've given them enough payment history to complete THIS loan request before we can start another one with them. Or we decide to find another finance company (ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS????) B/c the lender we are working with says we shouldn't look for another house until we get this all worked out!!

Okay enough with the vent!
